Sword Masters began in 2015 as a passion project by five industry veterans who shared a dream of creating the ultimate sword-fighting game. In a small rented office space in Seattle, our founders – Alex Chen, Mira Patel, Derek Johnson, Sophia Rodriguez, and Marcus Kim – pooled their savings and expertise to begin development of what they called "Project Blade."
The early days were challenging, with the team working long hours on a shoestring budget. Their breakthrough came when an early demo of their physics-based combat system caught the attention of investors at the 2016 Independent Games Festival. This initial funding allowed the team to expand and focus on developing the core mechanics that would eventually define Sword Masters.
By 2017, the studio had grown to fifteen developers and launched an Early Access version that quickly gained a dedicated following. The community's enthusiastic response and constant feedback became integral to the game's evolution, establishing our collaborative approach to development that continues to this day.
The full release in 2019 exceeded all expectations, winning critical acclaim and establishing Sword Masters as a new benchmark for combat mechanics in gaming. Today, our team has expanded to over 100 talented individuals across three studios, united by the original vision of creating the perfect sword fighting experience.
